The fourth session of Continuing Diagnostic Education (CDE) Series on Risk Management in Medical Laboratories (ISO 15189-2012) was held on 27th September under the leadership of Dr. Sankar Sengupta and Dr. Santwana Vernekar as an Organizing Chairman and Organizing Secretary respectively.
Dr. Venkatesh Thuppil (Patron CAHO and CEO & Director, FQI), Dr. BK Rana (Founder & CEO, QAI), Dr. Rajkumar Vajpeyi (Asst. Prof. Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology, University of Toronto) and Dr. Reema Bahri (Sr. Consultant & Head - Clinical Biochemistry & Quality, Batra Hospital & Medical Research Centre) shared their views on Risks in medical laboratories, how to identify and mitigate them. Dr. Aparna Jairam (Secretary) and Dr. J Jayalakshmi (South Zone Representative) of Diagnostic Centres wing of CAHO were the moderators.
The session was attended by 350 professionals across the globe and CAHO Governing Committee members were also present.
A live quiz competition was also conducted during the session. Dr. Dipti Dhanwate (Consultant Microbiologist, Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai), Dr. Shweta Prabhakar (Head Quality & Patient Safety, Fortis Hospital, Mohali ) and Dr. Nounechutuo Miachieo (Jr. Consultant, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research, Dimapur) emerged as Winner, First and Second Runner-Up respectively.
